Peru - OSIPTEL REDUCES THE COSTS FOR CALLS IN RURAL AREAS

The interconnection charges to be paid by rural operators use the networks of the urban operators will decrease by 68 %, according to the resolution 031-2012-CD/OSIPTEL that was approved by the Board of Directors of OSIPTEL.

The reduction of the interconnection charges for rural operators approved for this year will mean an annual savings of US$ 2.7 million, which will help to to better compete in some call types. The most significant saving will be in the positions that must pay rural operators to operators of mobile services and to the operators of pubic phones.
